Chelsea Appoint Liam Rosenior as New Head Coach on Six-Year Deal

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as its new head coach, signing the 41-year-old to a long-term contract that runs until 2032.

Rosenior replaces Enzo Maresca, who left the club on New Year’s Day following a poor run of form and a reported breakdown in relations with the club hierarchy.

Rosenior arrives at Stamford Bridge from RC Strasbourg, the French club also owned by Chelsea’s parent company, BlueCo.

During his 18-month spell in Ligue 1, he led Strasbourg to European qualification for the first time in nearly two decades, helping raise his profile as a promising young coach.

In an official statement, Rosenior described the appointment as “a huge honour” and pledged to protect Chelsea’s identity and winning tradition.

He said he is “excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff” and promised to “give everything to bring success” to the club.

Chelsea’s statement also emphasised that while player development will remain a core focus, the club’s ambitions and expectations remain high under the new coach.

Rosenior is expected to take charge officially ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round tie against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

In the meantime, Under-21 coach Calum McFarlane will oversee the team’s upcoming Premier League match at Fulham.

The appointment marks Rosenior’s first managerial role in the Premier League and makes him one of the few young English coaches at the helm of a top-flight club.
