The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has warned content creators against using its name, logo and identity in skits and online productions without official approval, saying offenders risk prosecution.
In a statement, the agency said it had observed a growing trend of individuals using its likeness in comedy and digital content, noting that such portrayals often distort its operations.
“It has come to the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that some individuals and content creators are using the name, logo and likeness of EFCC,” the agency said.
The commission added, “Many of these skits misrepresent our values and standard operating procedures,” stressing that it “has not authorised any such use” of its identity.
It also stated that “the EFCC does not endorse, sponsor or approve any comedy, drama or online content that uses our identity without written consent,” urging compliance from the public.
The agency directed creators to immediately stop using its name, uniforms or symbols without approval, warning that “all who violate these instructions shall be prosecuted.”
The warning comes amid rising cases of impersonation and fake operations, with the commission saying some individuals are using misleading tactics to exploit Nigerians and damage its reputation.
Officials said the move is aimed at protecting the integrity of the commission and ensuring the public is not misled by unauthorised or deceptive representations of its activities.
