Iranian Army Says It Shot Down 7 Drones Amid Escalating Tensions

Iran’s army announced on Thursday that its forces, alongside the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have shot down seven drones since morning.

In a statement, the army said the drones, identified as Hermes and MQ-9 types, were intercepted and destroyed in coordinated operations.

“Our forces and the Revolutionary Guard have shot down seven drones of the Hermes and MQ-9 types since this morning,” the statement read.

The announcement comes amid rising regional tensions, with Iran reporting repeated airspace violations by unmanned aerial vehicles.

Officials did not disclose the location of the interceptions or whether the drone strikes caused any casualties.

The Iranian military emphasized its readiness to protect the country’s airspace and deter future incursions.

“We remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding national security against hostile operations,” the statement added.

The incident marks the latest in a series of confrontations between Iran and foreign military forces operating near its borders.

Analysts warn that repeated drone engagements could further escalate tensions in the region, particularly amid ongoing conflicts in neighboring countries.

The IRGC and Iranian army continue to monitor airspace activity closely, coordinating with other defense units to respond to any threats.
