The North West Development Commission (NWDC) says it will soon open its official complaint page on its website, www.nwdc.gov.ng, as part of its broader commitment to tackling developmental challenges and promoting economic growth.
The Commission also stated that the complaint platform will provide a direct channel for citizens to voice concerns, lodge complaints, and share feedback about development needs and ongoing projects.
Created under the National Development Commission Act of 2023, the NWDC was officially inaugurated to serve the seven states in Nigeria's Northwest geopolitical zone: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
Speaking on Arewa Radio’s morning show on Wednesday, the Managing Director of the commission, Prof. Abdullahi Shehu Maaji said its intervention will focus on “road construction, education, healthcare access, and job creation.”
Prof. Maaji stressed that the initiative aims to improve transparency, encourage civic participation, and ensure government interventions are aligned with the needs of communities across the North West zone.
According to him, the move is in line with its mandate to “bridge development gaps in less privileged areas, where lack of infrastructure, poor access to services, and limited economic opportunities remain pressing issues.”
The MD assured that the online system will be user-friendly and secure, ensuring that residents can easily access the page and submit their complaints from anywhere.
The MD also revealed that “it has begun engaging stakeholders across the region to identify critical development needs and shape future interventions using data-driven approaches.”
He said the ongoing engagement is part of its strategic plan to ensure that developmental projects are tailored to the specific needs of communities in the North West.
By collecting and analyzing data directly from local stakeholders, Prof. Maaji said the commission aims to “allocate resources more effectively and drive impactful, sustainable development.”
