The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Michał Cygan, has described Nigeria as a stabilising force in West Africa, praising the role of its armed forces in counter-insurgency and regional security efforts.
Cygan made the remarks on January 13 during a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He commended the professionalism and resilience of Nigeria’s military, particularly the Air Force, and said Poland is interested in expanding defence cooperation with Nigeria to support its security priorities.
Air Marshal Aneke said international partnerships remain critical in addressing modern security threats, noting that the Nigerian Air Force is committed to leveraging cooperation to boost operational effectiveness and capacity.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen defence ties and agreed that defence diplomacy is key to promoting peace and stability in Nigeria and across the West African region.
