Sanwo-Olu to Receive 2026 Global Transformation and Good Governance Prize
The Millennium Excellence Foundation said the award followed a selection process that considered the achievements and development trajectory of Lagos State under Sanwo-Olu’s leadership.
According to the foundation, the honour is conferred under the royal patronage of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who will present the award alongside Queen Consort Lady Julia at a ceremony at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The Millennium Excellence Awards USA recognise individuals of African heritage and other global contributors for outstanding contributions to public service, business, science, the arts and philanthropy.
Sanwo-Olu is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address on positioning Lagos to attract investment from Nigerians and Africans in the diaspora.
His address will focus on opportunities in urban infrastructure, finance and other investment-ready projects in Lagos, which the state describes as Africa’s largest subnational economy.
The governor is also expected to participate in government sessions, plenaries and roundtable discussions focused on strengthening economic and social ties between Lagos and the diaspora.
