Sowore Says Remand Order Will Not Stop Him, Vows to Continue Struggle

Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the Federal High Court order remanding him at the Kuje Correctional Centre, saying the decision will not deter him from his political and activist pursuits.

In a post on X, Sowore said he was absent from court to consult with his new legal team led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olumide Fusika, and argued that the court proceeded with the remand order despite being informed of his absence.

He described the charges against him as “bogus” and insisted that imprisonment has never defeated a just cause, adding that he remained unbothered by the development.

Sowore urged his supporters and allies to remain resolute in what he described as a struggle against oppression, injustice and misrule.

Speaking to journalists after the ruling, he maintained that the campaign for change must continue.

“I have no doubt that if we don’t do this now, we’ll have to do it another time,” he said.

The activist, who is facing charges filed by the Department of State Services, has continued to attract public attention over issues relating to free speech and political expression in Nigeria.
