Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has warned that the recent actions of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, could undermine Nigeria’s military discipline and national security.
In a statement on his social media handle, Buratai criticized Wike’s verbal attack on a uniformed military officer on November 11.
He said the incident disrespects the chain of command, challenges the authority of the Commander-in-Chief, and damages the morale of service members.
Buratai called on Wike to issue a public apology to President Bola Tinubu, the Armed Forces, and the officer involved.
He described the minister’s actions as an act of indiscipline that could have serious implications for the nation’s security, urging decisive action to protect the integrity of Nigeria’s military.
