Residents of Kano State can now go about their day-to-day activities as the 24-hour curfew imposed on Wednesday is over.

The spokesman of the Kano Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, sent a message to journalists Thursday night that “the curfew has been lifted.”

The curfew was announced following the apprehension that engulfed the state after the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal declared that Governor Abba Yusuf did not win the election that brought him to office.

The three-man tribunal ruled that the All Progressives Congress candidate in the 18 March poll, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna won the vote.

Governor Yusuf, however, maintains his seat as he swiftly ordered his legal team to appeal the ruling within the stipulated 14 days.

He believes the tribunal judgment was erroneous and was filled with misapplications of the law.
