The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has nullified all the primary elections conducted by the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State over the unlawful exclusion of some party members as delegates.

George Orlu and four others had approached the court requesting that the primaries be rendered invalid following their exclusion as delegates in the process.

In his judgment, Justice Emmanuel Obile agreed that the aggrieved APC members were wrongly excluded during the election of delegates to participate in the party primaries.

The court, thereafter, ruled that all those elected from the primary stand nullified and should not be recognized as candidates.

In its reaction, the APC in Rivers State said it will appeal the judgment. It views the action against the party's primaries as an attempt at challenging the composition of the delegates’ list.

The spokesperson of the APC, Darlington Nwauju, released a statement pointing out that the issue that led to the judgment was an internal party affair.

He said nothing will stop the APC from being on the ballot in the 2023 General Election.

He also disclosed that those who went to court are now members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The plaintiffs are loyal to Senator Magnus Abe who used to be a member of the APC.
