Delta State Local Govt Declares Curfew Following Youth Protest

The chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council of Delta State, Godwin Adode has declared a 6 pm to 6 am curfew following a youth protest that led to the deaths of three persons.

Nigeria Info cannot independently verify how the deceased died.

Young people protested on Tuesday over the reported arrest of another young person by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The protest turned bloody and more than 10 trucks were burnt.

Chief Adode said he was disappointed with the outcome of the demonstration.

He appealed to Ughelli residents to remain calm and lawful, assuring them that the security agencies were working to return the peace.

The spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command did not respond to calls and text messages to his phone.
