The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially fired the starting gun for the 2027 general elections, unveiling a 31-person Presidential Campaign Council headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman.
According to an official State House announcement released Saturday morning by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari has been appointed Director-General of the campaign structure.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Council Secretary, assisted by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman.
APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will serve alongside VP Shettima as Vice Chairman.

The party's digital and media operations will see Segun Dada return as Director of New Media. Dele Alake will lead a five-member spokesperson team comprising Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
Charging the council to hit the ground running ahead of the January 2027 polls, President Tinubu emphasized economic turnaround as the centerpiece of the ruling party’s upcoming re-election pitch.
"We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress," the statement quoted the president as saying.
"Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards."
Tinubu urged committee heads to embrace broad-based consultations and integrate party members across all geopolitical zones to ensure an all-inclusive campaign push.
