The Abuja/Kaduna Railway operations resume on Monday (today) after a nine-month break amid tight security.
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered “immediate deployment of armed personnel” according to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The officers are drawn from the Police Mobile Force, the K-9 unit, the Force Intelligence Bureau, the Explosive Ordnance Unit, and the Railway Police Command.
The deployment covers major railway stations along the route and operational coaches.
The Abuja/Kaduna Railway operations were suspended in March after a fatal terrorist attack on the 28th of the month.
Eight people were killed in that attack and more than 100 were kidnapped.
All the abducted persons have been released following negotiations and the payment of ransoms.
