President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later today.
The Presidency says Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, whom it described as a martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
On Independence Day, the President is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 presidential election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
Tinubu is also expected to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos, as preparations continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
The President left Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, where he spent about a week in London before travelling to Paris, where he held a series of engagements.
During his stay in the French capital, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
