Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has shelved plans to hold a “Walk for Peace” in Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu in a statement put out on Thursday said he decided this so as not to “endanger the life of any Lagosian” amid the outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The governor also thanked all civil society groups, religious leaders, business leaders, youths and others who reached out for inclusive participation in the walk. Sanwo-Olu adds that he reached this decision subject to the dictate of science, not emotions.
Recall that the Governor had on November 30 announced a Walk for Peace for December which is meant for “healing” of the state after the #EndSARS protest.
The walk for peace had generated mixed feelings in Lagos, with the EndSARS agitators vowing not to partake.
