Nigeria’s representative at the 2026 Miss World competition, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has won the Africa Top Model title, earning an automatic place in the Top 40 quarterfinals.

Karibi-George secured the continental title Thursday at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII in Vietnam, where the Top Model competition was held under the theme “Soul of Heritage.” She finished ahead of contestants from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa.

The Miss World Organisation confirmed the result, congratulating the four continental winners who secured places in the Top 40.

“Congratulations to our four Continental Top Model winners, who have officially secured their places in the Top 40 quarterfinals of Miss World 2026,” the organisation said.

It added, “One winner from each continent earned a coveted place in the Top 40 after standing out during the Top Model competition.”

The four winners are Nigeria for Africa, the Dominican Republic for the Americas and Caribbean, France for Europe, and Vietnam for Asia and Oceania.

One of them will later be named the overall Top Model winner and receive a direct place in the Top 20.

The Top 40 will feature 10 contestants from each of the four continental groups.

Other places will be decided through challenges including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.

Karibi-George, 26, is from Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She represented Bayelsa State at the national pageant and won the Miss World Nigeria crown from a field of 20 finalists in June.

A trained communications professional, she founded Beyond Labels, an initiative focused on inclusion and empowerment for children with special needs.

She also won Miss Africa International in 2024.

Karibi-George had earlier reached the African finalists in the Head-to-Head Challenge, although South Africa’s Romanda Hombir won that continental round.
