President Bola Tinubu has condemned the reported killing of one of the teachers abducted during a bandit attack in Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as barbaric.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said security agencies are working to rescue the remaining victims, including students and pupils abducted from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.

Tinubu sympathised with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the families of the victims, and assured that the Federal Government is collaborating with the state to ensure the safe return of all abducted persons.

He also commended security operatives, including the Inspector-General of Police and tactical teams deployed for the operation, and said perpetrators and their collaborators will be apprehended and brought to justice.

The President further called for the acceleration of legislative efforts toward establishing state police, saying it has become necessary to strengthen security in underserved areas.
