The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has formally filed his petition to the elections tribunal to protest the outcome of the 25 February vote.

A statement from the chief spokesman of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, noted that Obi will be reclaiming “the people’s mandate” through the courts.

“It is official the Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has filed his petition to the presidential elections tribunal in Abuja,” he wrote on Twitter.

The process of reclaiming the people’s mandate has started.”

The petition is coming four weeks after the presidential election in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
