Atiku Insists He Will Restore Targeted Fuel Subsidy if Elected

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says he will restore a targeted fuel subsidy if elected president, arguing that Nigeria is wealthy enough to protect citizens from rising living costs.

In a statement on X, Atiku said his position on subsidy had not changed and that his plan was aimed at restoring purchasing power rather than bringing back what he described as an import racket.

He said high fuel prices drive up transportation and food costs, leaving families and businesses under increasing financial pressure.

Atiku said he would also support local production, reduce energy costs and make daily living more affordable for Nigerians.

He restated the commitment when he received the Osun State leadership of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja on Tuesday.
