Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has likened the party’s structure in Lagos and Nigeria to the deeply rooted Iroko or Lebanon oak tree.

This statement comes in response to recent claims that the PDP’s structure has collapsed into the ruling APC.

In an address following Monday's PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, George dismissed the claims as "nonsensical," particularly following the defection of key Lagos PDP figures, including the 2023 governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), and the spokesman, Hakeem Amode, to the APC.

He emphasized that the PDP remains resilient despite challenges, asserting, "The Iroko political party is very much alive."

Criticizing the defectors as "mere caricatures," George questioned their influence and relevance within the party.

He assured that the PDP's current internal crisis was solvable, drawing strength from the party's deep roots and historical endurance.

"No matter the wind or storm, the Iroko will stand," he affirmed, highlighting lessons learned from the 2023 election experience and dismissing claims of collapse as deliberate misinformation.
