Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has been elected President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) following an elective congress held in Abuja.

Edun, who also serves as Chairman of the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame (LBHF), emerged unopposed, securing all delegate votes in the election. His emergence marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to revitalize Nigeria’s boxing landscape.

In his new role, Edun is expected to focus on strengthening the federation’s governance structure, improving athlete welfare, and positioning Nigerian boxers for international recognition.

His election comes amid growing calls for reform and accountability across Nigeria’s sports federations, as the country works to reclaim its prominence in boxing, a sport that has historically produced several continental and global champions.
