The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna has called off its six-day warning strike.
Dr. Josiah Yakubu, the chapter's president, announced the suspension following an emergency congress meeting on Saturday and after interventions from both the national and state leadership of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).
Work is set to resume at the hospital on Tuesday, with activities commencing at 8:00 a.m. for hospital operations and 10:00 a.m. for resident doctors.
The decision to suspend the strike came after the Secretary to the State Government intervened to mediate the situation.
A follow-up meeting, which lasted two hours, allowed both parties to address concerns and seek solutions to the industrial dispute.
The state government has acknowledged the concerns of the doctors and committed to addressing issues related to manpower and remuneration.
A Memorandum of Understanding was drafted and signed, outlining the transition from CONMESS 2014 to CONMESS 2024, with a two-month timeline set for implementing the agreed-upon solutions.
