Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports of a possible defection, saying no decision has been made about his political future.

In a statement, he described claims circulating in the media as misleading and premature.

Kwankwaso pointed to recent court rulings involving the African Democratic Congress, including a decision by the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirming the leadership of the David Mark-led faction while returning aspects of the case to a lower court.

He also referenced a separate ruling by the Federal High Court that invalidated the party’s convention, describing the situation as uncertain.

The former minister expressed concern over moves by the Attorney General of the Federation to seek the deregistration of the party, calling it unusual.

He said consultations are ongoing with political stakeholders, including leaders from the National Democratic Congress and the Peoples Redemption Party, to determine the next step.

Kwankwaso added that he has not declared any presidential ambition and has not endorsed any candidate, noting that the party has yet to decide on zoning.

He stressed that his political decisions will be guided by national interest and party unity.

He also clarified that his absence from recent party meetings was due to personal commitments, adding that he informed party leaders in advance.

Kwankwaso assured that any final decision on his political direction will be communicated through official channels.
