The Lagos State House of Assembly has condemned widespread reports suggesting that the 2026 Appropriation Law contains provisions for the purchase of houses in Abuja for lawmakers.

The issue was raised during plenary on Thursday, where the Assembly described the claim as deliberate misinformation aimed at tarnishing the institution’s reputation.

Chairman of the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Sa’ad Olumoh, said there is no allocation in the 2026 budget for the acquisition of properties in Abuja, stressing that the report was fabricated and misleading.

Lawmaker Kehinde Joseph also described the rumour as part of election season propaganda designed to undermine public trust and create unnecessary tension.

Another member, Aro Moshood Abiodun, urged the House to respond firmly to such falsehoods and ensure the public understands the true position of the Assembly.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa described the allegation as a serious attempt to damage the integrity of the House, stressing that the Assembly would not allow falsehoods to erode public confidence.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, good governance and the welfare of Lagos residents, urging the public to disregard the unfounded claims and remain united against efforts to mislead them.
