The Lagos State government has demolished seventeen houses built on the Right of Way of the Ikota River.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, led the operation and warned residents to stop reclaiming land illegally.

He said the action became necessary after developers resumed encroachment despite earlier warnings.

Wahab added that those involved will face prosecution, stressing the government’s commitment to protecting the environment.

The team also inspected the Lekki-Epe corridor ahead of the new Green Line Rail project set to begin in December.
