The Lagos State government has announced that the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge will undergo a significant 110-day closure for essential repairs, commencing June 28 and concluding on October 15.
This announcement was detailed by the state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement released on Tuesday.
The repair work, previously postponed, will be executed in eight phases across both lanes of the bridge. The first four phases, addressing the stretch of the bridge inbound Alapere, are slated to begin on June 28 and conclude on August 16, covering a period of 50 days.
The subsequent phases, focusing on the stretch inbound Oworoshoki, will start on August 16 and end on October 5, spanning 51 days. During this period, motorists are advised to seek alternative routes to mitigate the impact of the partial bridge closure.
For those affected by phase one, routes have been suggested through Gbagada to connect with Anthony and access Ikorodu Road. In phase two, motorists are encouraged to use Funsho Williams Avenue to connect to Ikorodu Road via Eko Bridge. To alleviate traffic disruptions, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy officers to manage and facilitate smoother traffic flow around the affected areas.
Motorists are urged to exercise patience and comply with the diversion plans to ensure a smoother transition during the repair period.
