The Lagos State Government says emergency response operations helped save properties worth over N118.32 billion from fire incidents in 2025.

Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Olugbenga Oyerinde, disclosed this during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, saying properties worth about N19.72 billion were still lost during the period.

He said the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service handled 1,972 emergency calls between January and December 2025, with fire incidents accounting for 1,685 cases, while 473 victims were rescued and 133 bodies recovered.

Oyerinde also noted that 8,791 facilities were inspected and 7,997 fire safety certificates issued as part of prevention efforts.

The commissioner added that the state procured 62 firefighting and utility vehicles and completed new fire stations in Ebute-Elefun and Ijegun-Egba, with more stations underway in Oworonshoki, Yaba, and Ikotun to improve response time.
