Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to host the 2025 International Climate Change Summit, with a key focus on the blue economy and strategies to enhance coastal resilience across Africa.

The summit will take place from November 6 to 7, 2025, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, and is expected to attract a global mix of leaders, climate experts, investors, and policymakers.

The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the summit will be held under the theme: “Blue Economy, Green Money: Financing Africa’s Coastal Resilience and Ocean Innovation.”

Wahab noted that the event is designed to serve as a strategic platform for accelerating both action and investment in Africa’s ocean and coastal economies—particularly in the lead-up to the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30).

The initiative underscores Lagos State’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability, economic innovation, and climate leadership on the African continent.
