NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), has renewed the Agency’s call for drug-integrity tests for intending couples, describing the measure as a vital early-prevention tool in Nigeria’s fight against substance abuse.

Marwa made the appeal in Abuja on Wednesday while receiving leaders of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), who paid him a courtesy visit.

He said the tests would help discourage drug use among youths and support early detection and treatment.

“With about 15 million Nigerians using drugs, government cannot handle this challenge alone,” Marwa said. “We need the whole of society.

You are the mothers of the nation, and it is critical that you stand up and be part of this struggle.”MARWA 2

NCWS President, Princess Edna Azura, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reappointing Marwa for another five-year term, saying the renewal reflects national confidence in his leadership of the NDLEA.

She described his tenure as transformative, citing breakthroughs in dismantling drug networks, intercepting illicit substances and expanding rehabilitation and preventive education.

She also called for deeper collaboration with the Agency on school and community sensitisation and training for women leaders.

Marwa assured the group that the NDLEA will provide tailored Drug Prevention, Treatment and Care training for NCWS leaders in 2026 to support grassroots outreach.
