The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted drug couriers believed to be supplying terrorists and bandits in the Northeast.
On September 27, officers arrested Baba Kaka Ibrahim (26) at Njimtilo village, Borno State, with 39,380 pills of tramadol and exol-5 hidden in the engine compartment of his Mercedes-Benz GLK.
On the same day in Yobe State, a woman, Halima Adamu, was caught with 1.4kg of Colorado concealed in her luggage, with another woman, Habiba Muhammad, later arrested in Maiduguri in connection with the consignment.
In a separate operation, the NDLEA arrested two suspected drug kingpins, Victor Nwosa (64) and Felix Chika Obiegbu (49), after consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine were recovered from their Lagos residences.
The suspects, who posed as a textile merchant and a wine distributor, respectively, were apprehended after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Nwosa was arrested on September 17 at his home in Okota, Lagos, where 4.33kg of heroin and 448g of cocaine were seized. Obiegbu was picked up earlier on September 11 at his residence in Aguda, Surulere, with 2.9kg of methamphetamine.
The agency also reported multiple seizures and arrests across the country within the week.
These included the recovery of over 85,000 opioid pills in Lagos, the arrest of an ex-convict in Ekiti with 32kg of cannabis, the seizure of over 262kg of skunk in Kaduna, and the destruction of over 24,000kg of cannabis in Edo forests.
