The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has reopened its student loan verification portal for a final 48-hour window to allow tertiary institutions yet to complete their verification exercise to do so.

In a statement on Friday, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the portal would be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.

She said the brief reopening aims to ensure all eligible students are verified by their schools as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.

“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” Oluwatuyi said, warning that schools that fail to meet the deadline will forfeit participation in the current loan cycle — a move that could disadvantage their students.

She added that for transparency and accountability, NELFUND will publish the list of defaulting institutions after the exercise.

Oluwatuyi reaffirmed NELFUND’s commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education through an efficient and transparent student loan management process.
