The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has warned that any violence during the Anambra governorship election will face a strong response from security agencies.
He issued the warning at a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
He was represented by the Director of Internal Security at the office of the NSA, Hassan Abdullahi.
Ribadu said the Federal Government has put in place tight security, including more surveillance, more officers on duty, and stronger intelligence to ensure a peaceful election on November 8.
He said, “As we prepare for the Anambra State governorship election on November 8, 2025, we have put in place robust security arrangements.
“These include enhanced surveillance, the deployment of sufficient security personnel, and improved intelligence gathering to prevent any attempt by disruptive elements or desperate politicians to undermine the electoral process.”
He urged politicians and candidates to avoid actions that could cause trouble, warning that security agencies will not tolerate violence.
The NSA assured that the police and other security agencies have been fully prepared to protect voters, election officials, and materials before, during, and after the polls.
