The Independent National Electoral Commission says over 69,000 Nigerians completed online pre-registration within the first seven hours of its Continuous Voter Registration, which commenced on Monday, August 18.

INEC disclosed that 48.7% of the applicants were male and 51.3% female, while nearly 70% were youths aged 18–34.

The voter registration portal cvr.inecnigeria.org will remain open 24/7, while in-person registration begins on August 25 at INEC’s state and local government offices nationwide.

INEC is urging eligible citizens above 18 who have not registered to take part, warning that multiple registrations are illegal.

Weekly updates on registration figures, broken down by state, age, gender, and occupation, will be published.
