The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called off its nationwide strike, bringing relief to motorists and businesses hit by the suspension of fuel dispensing.
PETROAN National President, Dr. Billy Gillis Harry, announced the decision on Tuesday after negotiations involving government officials, security agencies, the Dangote Refinery, and the oil workers’ union NUPENG.
“All members have been directed to resume dispensing nationwide immediately,” Harry said. “Normalcy is expected to return as depots and filling stations reopen.”
The strike, which saw petrol retailers suspend dispensing, had caused growing concern about fuel supply disruptions across Nigeria.
Harry praised PETROAN members for what he called “100% compliance” with the action, commending their discipline and solidarity.
He also thanked the Minister of Labour, the Minister of State for Petroleum, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, the Department of State Services, and the Inspector-General of Police for their part in resolving the dispute.
The association described the resolution as a positive development for Nigeria’s economy.
