The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up awareness efforts on electoral violence and road safety in Lagos and Ogun states as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, led the programme, engaging stakeholders and members of the public on the need to prevent election related violence.

The exercise also involved discussions on the dangers of acts like ballot snatching and the role of citizens in maintaining peace during elections.

Police officers extended the outreach to commercial drivers in Obalende, Lagos, urging them to obey traffic rules and avoid reckless driving, overloading and driving under the influence.

Jimoh said compliance with traffic laws is key to reducing accidents and protecting lives and property.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to public engagement, noting that continued collaboration with citizens is essential for safety in both states.
