The traditional ruler of Eruku in Kwara State, Oba Olanrewaju Busari, has confirmed the rescue of the 38 worshippers abducted from a local church but clarified they have not yet been reunited with the community.

The Owa of Eruku told Nigeria Info FM that while they are grateful for the rescue, the victims remain under government care in Ilorin, reportedly receiving medical care.

"We received the information from DSS that they have been released," the monarch said.

"They are with the government house. So, they have not released them to the communities. We have not received them from the government," he added.

"They are still receiving medical attention at the moment. They have not come back home."

The attack, which occurred during a church crusade, resulted in the death of three people and left one person wounded.

"The magnitude of what we experienced on that fateful day was beyond our imagination," Oba Busari said.

The pastor of the affected church, Lawrence Abiodun Bamidele, confirmed the three fatalities included two church members and one individual attending the revival.

Pastor Bamidele noted that attendance initially dropped due to fear but is slowly returning.

"Many of our members were not coming to service," said the pastor.

"By the grace of God, on Sunday, we saw more courage," he added, noting that about 58 members attended last Sunday's service.

Pastor Bamidele prayed for Nigeria's peace and security, urging other Nigerians to do the same.

He also charged the government to take necessary action against kidnappers and terrorists.
