Shettima Departs for New York to Represent Nigeria at UN General Assembly

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for New York to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Office of the Vice President announced on Sunday. 

In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima is scheduled to deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the high-level meeting, which will run from September 22 to 28. 

Aside from the national address, Shettima will engage in several bilateral and multilateral events on issues of both national and international importance.

One notable highlight on his agenda is the announcement of Nigeria’s new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement during a UN special event on climate.
