Among the non career ambassadors are former ministers, lawmakers and political figures including Reno Omokri to Mexico, Femi Fani Kayode to Germany, Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau to China.

Other postings include Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Isaak Adewole to Canada, Olufemi Pedro to Australia and Nora Daduut to South Korea.

Career diplomats were also assigned to several countries including Egypt, Ghana, India, Belgium, Switzerland, Kenya, Morocco and Senegal.

President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin induction programmes for the ambassadors and high commissioners to prepare them for their diplomatic assignments.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
