Israel Adesanya has vowed to bounce back after suffering a fourth consecutive loss, following a defeat to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle.
Pyfer secured the biggest win of his career, dominating the former champion before referee Herb Dean stopped the fight in the second round.
Adesanya, a former two time middleweight champion, has now lost his last four fights, including previous defeats to Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis and Nassourdine Imavov.
The bout started as a close striking contest, but Pyfer took control in the second round, gaining a dominant position and forcing a stoppage after a series of strikes.
With the victory, Pyfer is expected to rise into the top tier of the division, with champion Khamzat Chimaev seen as a possible future opponent.
Despite the setback, Adesanya says he is not stepping away from the sport, insisting he remains determined to continue fighting.
