The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed more than 25 terrorists in coordinated night airstrikes across Borno and Yobe states, in a fresh push against insurgents in the country’s northeast.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, September 18, targeted terrorist hideouts around Bula in Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State, according to a statement released Saturday by NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Ejodame said the strikes followed intelligence provided by ground troops, with surveillance assets tracking terrorist movements in the region.
“A force package of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets and strike aircraft tracked terrorist movements and identified multiple groups north of Banki,” he said.
He added that three successive precision strikes were launched on movement routes and assembly areas, neutralising more than 25 fighters.
Real-time updates were relayed to base operations and ground forces, enabling synchronised action between air and land troops.
“Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces remained in defensive positions, with no further threats observed,” Ejodame said.
