Anglican Archbishop of Lagos Province Dies at 53

The Archbishop of Lagos Province, Anglican Communion and Bishop of Lagos Diocese, Most Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye, has died.

A statement co-signed by the Synod Secretary, Ven. Segun Ladeinde; and the Chancellor, Justice Adedayo Oyebanji, said he died at 53.

“His Episcopal sojourn in the Diocese of Lagos and subsequently the Province was characterized by phenomenal, physical, and spiritual developments, for which all of us shall remain very proud.

“We shall keep you posted, as detailed arrangements of the Funeral obsequies unfold and are made public,” the statement read.

Most Reverend Olumakaiye was born on 28 January 1969 and elected for translation into the Diocese of Lagos on 6 February 2018.

He was enthroned as the eighth Bishop of Lagos on 30 July 2018 at the Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos.

He became the Archbishop of the Province of Lagos in 2021.
