The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally unveiled a 73-member Central Coordination Committee to steer activities ahead of its much-anticipated National Convention, scheduled for March 27–28, 2026.

The announcement was made by the party as part of intensified preparations for what is expected to be a pivotal event in its internal political calendar.

At a statement issued on Monday, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the party’s National Secretary, disclosed that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as Chairman of the convention committee.

Uzodimma also leads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, positioning him at the forefront of the APC’s strategic planning for the national meeting.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, who is Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, was appointed Vice Chairman, while Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, a former APC National Chairman, will serve as Secretary of the committee.

The committee comprises a broad cross-section of Nigeria’s political leadership, including serving governors from across the federation, former party chairmen, senior federal ministers, and leading lawmakers.

Among those listed are governors such as Bassey Otu (Cross River), Babagana Umara Zulum (Borno), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), reflecting the APC’s national spread.

In addition to current office holders, the committee includes seasoned party figures such as Bisi Akande, Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Abdullahi Ganduje, all former national party chairmen, as well as Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohamed Idris Malagi and retired General Christopher Musa.

Legislative leaders are also represented, with the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, their deputies, and several former parliamentary presiding officers named as members.

According to party sources, the Central Coordination Committee will oversee key aspects of the convention’s organisation, including logistics, accreditation, security arrangements, and inter-agency coordination.

The national convention is expected to culminate in the election of new members of the APC’s National Working Committee and to set the stage for the party’s internal leadership and strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
