The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s determination to decisively confront and defeat security threats across the country.

Shaibu gave the assurance during an operational visit to Yobe State, where he carried out a battlefield assessment and boosted troop morale amid ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

According to a statement issued by Col. Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the army chief said recent attacks on troop positions would not deter ongoing military operations.

“The Nigerian Army will remain aggressive and adaptive in responding to evolving threats across various theatres of operation,” Shaibu said, noting that recent operational adjustments were already yielding positive results.

He urged citizens and state governments to sustain their support for the military, stressing that collaboration remains critical to achieving lasting peace and stability.

At the Headquarters, Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai in Damaturu, Shaibu charged troops to intensify offensive operations against insurgents and remain resolute in the face of challenges.

He also urged soldiers to honour their fallen colleagues through renewed commitment and sustained battlefield pressure on terrorist groups.

In his remarks, Governor Buni commended the army’s resilience and sacrifices, describing troops as pivotal to restoring peace in conflict-affected areas of the North-East.

Shaibu's visit comes amid renewed efforts by the military to contain insurgency and stabilise communities affected by years of conflict in Nigeria’s North-East.
