The leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has officially issued expulsion certificates to 11 senior members, including Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose, marking a decisive step in a purge of its ranks.

The certificates were handed out by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) during a meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, where current NWC chairman Kabiru Turaki formally assumed leadership after the recent convention in Ibadan.

The expelled members, including former national officers such as Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, and Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), were booted out over alleged “anti-party activities.”

Turaki explained that the certificates serve a legal purpose: they act as a formal record of expulsion, enabling former members to join other political parties without violating laws against dual membership.

Expelled Members:

  • Nyesom Wike

  • Ayodele Fayose

  • Samuel Anyanwu

  • Umaru Bature

  • Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN)

  • Abdurahman Muhammad

  • Mao Ohuabunwa

  • Austin Nwachukwu

  • Abraham Amah Nnanna

  • George Turna

  • Dan Orbih

Turaki urged institutions like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the public to treat the expelled individuals as no longer affiliated with the PDP, warning that anyone who engages with them in the name of the PDP “does so at his or her own risk.”

The PDP says the move is part of a broader effort to cleanse the party and restore discipline ahead of the 2027 general election.
