Nigerian football celebrated on the continental stage as Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, her third consecutive win in the category, at the CAF Awards.
The Super Falcons also clinched the Women’s National Team of the Year award, cementing Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
The awards ceremony, held in Rabat, Morocco, highlighted the growing strength and consistency of Nigerian women’s football.
Nnadozie’s remarkable performances in goal, coupled with the team’s successes over the years, have kept Nigeria at the forefront of African football.
While Morocco dominated several other categories, with Achraf Hakimi winning African Player of the Year and Ghizlane Chebbak named Women’s Player of the Year, Nigeria’s double success stood out as a testament to the country’s talent and resilience in women’s football.
Other award winners included Doha El Madani as Women’s Young Player of the Year, Othmane Maamma as Men’s Young Player of the Year, Yassine Bounou as Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Bubista as Coach of the Year, and Clement Mzize of Young Africans for Goal of the Year.
Despite challenges on the local front, the women's national team has consistently put Nigeria in a position of reckoning on the international stage.
