A Federal High Court has granted bail to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accused of defaming Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

The bail, set at ₦50 million, was announced on Thursday after Akpoti-Uduaghan's arraignment by the Federal Government on charges of defamation.

The court's decision comes amid allegations that Akpoti-Uduaghan made defamatory statements against Akpabio and Bello.

The accusations have been at the center of a legal battle drawing significant public attention.

Justice A.B. Mohammed, presiding over the case, granted bail on the condition that Akpoti-Uduaghan provide two sureties of the same amount.

The sureties must possess landed properties within the Federal Capital Territory.

The trial is scheduled to continue on September 23, with further proceedings expected to shed more light on the allegations and defenses involved.
