Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the resumed hearing of his bail application amid tight security.
El-Rufai arrived at the court premises early Wednesday morning, drawing attention from security operatives and observers.
The hearing follows Tuesday’s proceedings, which were stalled after the defence introduced fresh applications, including a request for the presiding judge, Rilwan M. Aikawa, to step aside over alleged bias.
The defence later moved to withdraw the same request, leading to legal back and forth that delayed proceedings.
The situation was further complicated by a counter affidavit from the prosecution opposing bail, leaving the defence with little time to respond.
Justice Aikawa subsequently adjourned the matter for continuation.
Security was heightened around the court, with armed personnel deployed and journalists restricted from accessing the courtroom.
