Indigenes of Daki biyu community in the Abuja Municipal Area Council on Wednesday threatened to disrupt the road construction passing through their community if the FCT Administration fails to relocate them to the sites approved for them by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Issuing the threat, the community's spokesperson, Shedrack Gomna, said the decision had become necessary following an alleged conspiracy by senior officials of the FCT Administration to allocate the approved sites to themselves.
According to him, the Daki biyu community, which has been in existence for over two hundred years, will be affected by the ongoing massive road construction that would link Jabi District to other emerging Districts.
Gomna further disclosed that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approved two sites close to the community where they would be permanently relocated after compensating affected persons.
He noted that they were, however, disappointed when directors from the FCTA delayed and hijacked the process in an attempt to short-change them.
Gomna appealed to the minister to intervene and urge the FCTA officials responsible for relocating the community to expedite action or face violent resistance from the community when construction commences.
"We have been here, whether with development or not, we have been enjoying ourselves, our community. And if the federal government says they are bringing development, a road corridor, a hospital, or a school, nobody drags with the government. And we have welcomed this idea," he said.
"This community did not drag them in this process, in the whole of these processes. And so therefore, our faith lies in the hands of the honorable minister and in the hands of God.
"Because, since he has taken this decision that he will relocate us very close to our area, and it is somebody from nowhere that is now coming to go against the instruction of the Honorable Minister, we are now saying our faith is in the hands of the minister.
"You hold that individual responsible for taking this illegal action. It is very possible the honorable minister is not aware, and that's why we have to come and cry out so that he will hear our demand, he will hear our problem, what is facing us now, so that he will look for such an individual.
"That's why we mention his name here; we are not afraid of saying that Chijoike, the director of lands, is making this effort, and therefore, we will not agree with what has been agreed upon earlier.
"The second question is a speedy implementation. The minister is trying his best, as far as we are concerned, with the implementation. The minister is working, and the approaches have been okay.
"Everything he has been doing about the speedy implementation... everything has been going perfectly. It is only this delay now, or this intervention by the so-called director of land that wants to delay the whole process now.
"Left for the Minister, the allocation paper will have been released to us by now because he is very interested in the project and he is ready to do this, to implement this work."
