Germany reinforced their reputation as one of football’s most dominant teams after thrashing Curaçao 7-1 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their third seven-goal victory at the tournament this century.
With another seven-goal demolition, Germany have now produced three of the five World Cup matches since 2000 in which a team has hit seven or more goals.
The four-time world champions first achieved the feat with an 8-0 demolition of Saudi Arabia during the 2002 World Cup before producing one of the most memorable results in tournament history with a 7-1 semi-final victory over hosts Brazil in 2014.
Their latest seven-goal performance against Curaçao further underlines Germany’s attacking strength and enduring pedigree on football’s biggest stage.
With the result, Germany continue to dominate the list of the highest-scoring World Cup matches of the 21st century, accounting for more than half of all seven-goal victories recorded at the tournament during that period.
The 7-1 triumph also strengthens Germany’s credentials as one of the favourites at the ongoing World Cup, while adding another remarkable chapter to the country’s rich football history.
