Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, has inaugurated two key subcommittees of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the party’s 2025 Elective National Convention.

The PDP had earlier announced that the convention will be held on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement on Friday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal inaugurated the Accreditation Subcommittee at the Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja, and the Special Duties Subcommittee at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza.

Governor Lawal, who chairs the Accreditation Subcommittee, described it as the most vital component of the national convention, emphasizing its role in ensuring transparency and credibility.

“You have been chosen not for a routine task, but for one of the most critical assignments in our democratic process,” he said.

“The work you are about to undertake is the very foundation upon which a credible, transparent, and successful convention will be built.”

He explained that the subcommittee’s duties include producing the official delegate list, booklets, and tags, as well as accrediting and ensuring the welfare of all delegates and dignitaries.

While inaugurating the Special Duties Subcommittee, the governor charged members to uphold integrity and fiscal prudence as they coordinate financial and logistical activities for the convention.

“You are the convention’s central nervous system,” he said.

“Your role is to empower all other committees, ensure transparency in disbursements, and support a seamless national convention.”

The PDP’s upcoming convention is expected to elect new national officers and set the party’s direction ahead of the next general elections.
